Experiments are the key factor in the process of every creative growth. Outstanding ideas can not be produced by continuously following a set of rules and preexisting concepts. This project is a respite from judgment and dull, inside-the-box thinking. No rights or wrongs. Simply an expression of a soul.
The brief set certain boundaries, which, in my opinion, allowed me to push it further and to concentrate on the key matters. I started by selecting cities and figuring out what makes them unique, makes them the way they truly are. Further steps included material selection. It was essential for them to correspond with my previous findings.
The trickiest part was dealing with the materials, as there was no style, medium provided by the brief - nothing. At the same time, this limitation gave me more pleasure than the usual projects, because I had to figure out how they behave and how to use it. Materials, letters are like people, to showcase the best features it is essential to create perfect conditions for them.
In conclusion, it is a documentation of my growth as an artist. My way of finding out who I am, because all the steps, no matter how big or small - matter.
